Smell the Green grass and Fresh air.
It was yet another mundane weekend. With a hard slog during the week behind the back, it was time to recuperate for the week ahead. The sun was shining bright through the window, suggesting it was time to get out of bed. The daily chores done and dealt with, I set off to the local supermarket for my weekly grocery shopping. As I slipped into my comfortable floaters and stepped out, I realised the summer was here. Something to cheer about.
I had just walked up the road a couple of blocks, when I saw a little boy about 7 years old, getting off his tricycle and leaning over the hedge of a garden and smelling the little blue and white flowers. What made me curious, was that the kid would repeat the process of enjoying the smell of the flowers stepping further by a few feet. As he was doing this for good couple of minutes, his mother (who I gather was chatting up to her friend in the garden), came up and called out to Tom (The little kid). The look on the face of little tom as he was whisked away said worth more than a thousand words. The look of happiness and content vanished to give place to sadness.
As I walked on a few feet futher, The happy face of tom etched in my mind, it all suddenly struck me like a thunderbolt. Here I was, living life at a break neck speed, living a mechanical life week after week, wondering when I'd see the light at the end of the tunnel and this little boy brought me out of my trance like state.
For the first time in many weeks, I stopped by to smell the green grass, the crisp fresh air, enjoyed the sounds of the birds in the background and even treated myself to hot cuppa and smelt the beans as I savoured the drink. I felt at peace with myself after a long time, a sense of calm replacing the myriad worries. All thanks to lil Tom!
